Almost criminal.

This company preys on ambitious and bright eyed college students who hope to get ahead in the world. I have been through a similar company when I was a Junior in college and it was no where near as bad as this one. The company makes promises to their employee's that they can't keep (telling them they do not need money to start up a franchise), and then overcharges them for supplies so the students are in debt to the company before they even start painting (roughly $6,000 that they are told they need to pay off before they start on their customers jobs). This then causes the managers to try and cut corners on their jobs when/if they do start. Some managers are able to do alright because of their initial financial situation, but at least 1/3 (straight from College Pro's Franchise agreement form) of the 200 managers hired do not see production.

College Pro does not teach their managers technical knowledge about painting, such as types of siding, how to pressure wash, business etiquette or knowledge, or sanding techniques. They focus their efforts on teaching students how to SELL paint jobs. They then use the rookie managers as slave labor for some of the senior managers. My friend was a manager this year and had to work for 12 hours, 9am-9pm on a senior managers clients house, where they "trained" them. Not only did the new rookie managers not get paid for their 12 hours of labor, but instead had to pay the senior managers 175$ because it was classified as "training". Meanwhile, the senior managers pocketed all the labor money from the client. I am not making this up.

During production, Franchise managers are recommended to pay their painters minimum wage, which is NOT a fair wage to be paying people working out in the sun all day long doing manual labor. This in turn causes the people painting your home to not work as hard and perpetuates a circle of terrible quality for you and terrible living standards for the painters. A very close friend of mine had to learn all of this hard way and is now in debt to the company after working their butt off for them last 5 months.

Do not support this company and its greedy leadership.

Monetary Loss: $7000.

My son has a very similar experience with this company. After working whole summer, he owes $4000 and is painting houses in September to return this money to the company.

So, he is not in a school.

Ortherwise he would be a senior in a college.

This is a modern day "slavery" when business organized in such a way, that a large group of students will be working for free for them...

I would like to retract and change part of my statement about the charges of a training fee that I claimed. The charges of the training fee were for an EPA Lead Safety course, and not for the 12 hours "training" that the managers did not get paid for.

I misunderstood the claim.

However, it still upsets me that managers were not paid for their 12 hours of labor that were built into the bid for the customer, and were instead pocketed by someone else. That is not right
