College pro talk about the 24% royalty but what they don't mention is that after all the deductions they take from the Zees is amounts to roughly 29-30% of total sales. This is not including workers compensation, phone bills, gas for travel and cash you have to pay for ppl to cold call for you. Your labour cost is another 25-30% of your total sales. And your material can run you another 10 -14 percent of total sales based on your experience.
Plus you might need to buy a vichele if you don't have one to carry your equiptment and pay for service and insurance.
Now if you were to do the math whatever is left over belongs to you. Now you can see why painter are treated unfairly by some Zees and why some Zees penny pinch on the supplies". There are Zees that had $100,000 in sales and came out with $10,000/. If you squeeze on the paint and painters then you can increase that profit, but then you are left with unhappy workers and customers!
College pro wants you to do everything to make the customers happy do that they can recommend the company!. Where does that leaves you?
The Painters make close to minimum wage (I've heard of some that makes below) because they don't understand the pice rate system (CP Pstandard) and the managers are forced to work 12-16hrs days sometimes because they have to constantly try to get jobs, check up on painting crews, pick up/ drop off supplies for painter and checking with customers'.
I can go on and on about the everyday life of a college pro franchisee but it brings back bad memories?. CPP has a very unfair system that caters to the very top". I have learned a lot about what not to do in a business from college pro;. Then they have there contract that says you can orperate a painting business after 3 yrs to the end of your contract with them!.
Would not recommend!!! 1299c2f

1. Written by franchisee on April 11, 2012 from detroit, michigan, US I'm from the Great lakes region. I have paid overhead costs as a rookie and didn't get rich but my second year i made 30k. for a summer job that starts with every weekend form jan-may. then production til late august I made it work for me and have no regrets. I have found lazy entitled people have the worst time with this program. It's not a hand out, it's work. you do what your GM tells you as much as you can and you will be fine. I have met so many good people through collepro. The reward hinges on the hard work put in.
2. Written by Pass Franchisee on March 10, 2012 from calgary, alberta, CA They must have royalty set at different rates based on States or Provinces or country. In Canada from the province I orperate it starts at 24 %.
3. Written by Chris McDonald on March 10, 2012 from boston, massachusetts, US Royalty 20% 1st year up to 80k, then 14% until 125k, then 9% until 200k and 3% after that. Quality insurance 2.5%, you get the rebate if you actually do a good job on the houses last year about 10-15 people did go into debt. they sat on their *** not listening to their GM'S on what they could do to run their business successfully. they give you goals cuz they know what you need to do to get to your overall sales goal. there were still 250+ people who made 10k - 100k quit your ***
4. Written by You should not be a college pr on February 14, 2012 from winnipeg, manitoba, CA If any college pro Franchees claim that they make $25,000 from $75,000 in sales then that is a blatant lie. Why? Royalties = 23% (24% in 1year) = $17,250 Quality Assurance = 2.5% = $1,875 Liability Insurance = 2.7% = $2,025 Answering service = 1.5% = $1,125 Divisional Marketing =$1,250 Lead generation = $25/lead Flyers (they want u to send minimum 10,000) = $125/1000=$1,250 Painter recruiting = $250. The about is mandatory fees (at minimum) college pro charged you! You must pay your painters at minimum 24% (for some Zees it's 28%-30%) = $18,000! You must pay for workers compensation = $700. Your paint cost at minimum if you are a skilled zee = 10% (for some Zees it's 12%-13%) = $7,500 _______________________=$23K Lead generation not included! Not to mention your own coldcalling cash out of your pocket!!! Your gas is not included! Your phone bill is not included! The signs/ frames not included! Those are just the most obvious charges that you pay. As a 2nd year College Pro Franchisee who is highly skilled with his/her cash. You must have also worked your butt off painting to make $23k. Which would also means that you are not quite skilled in management. That been said if you figure out how many hour you work from January (training ) to September or October (closedown). Then you will see that you might have made minimum wage or less. College Pro Painters is a corporation, they put you and your painters interest last!! Their profit comes first! Not Recommend!!!
5. Written by Agree with Should not be. on February 13, 2012 from moscow, idaho, US I ran a franchise for a summer, worst thing I have ever done. Between driving to all the different workshops, training sessions, Lead certification, hotel rooms, and cold calling trips (My turf was 30 minutes away)I had spent well over $1000 dollars before getting my first deposit check which had to be given all to CPP to make sure that my A/R bill was zero. Not once did my GM mention that if it wasn't at zero, I couldn't legally hire any painters until about a before production. Not to mention I was hired in February and was told I would do fine. I was booked at 25K in sales in only 4 weeks but still was told if I wanted to make 10K (my Goal)I would HAVE to be booked at around 85K-100K if i had two crews. Long story short, I spent the entire summer painting with no help. Fu@% CPP, only things I learned was how not to run a business
6. Written by CPP on February 13, 2012 from barrie, ontario, CA Im on my second year and I only did like $70000 in sales and made over $25000 get your facts right. If you just sit around you make nothing if you work you can make a killing.
